What Consignment Means
You own the coins. We handle the selling process.
Consignment is different from selling your collection outright. Instead of accepting a dealer's immediate purchase offer, you authorize NumisMaverick to market selected coins or an agreed collection for sale.
The goal is to put quality numismatic material in front of buyers who may recognize its collector value. This can make sense for coins where presentation, research, photography, and access to the right buyer matter.
Consignment is not automatically the best option for every collection. If an immediate sale makes more sense, we can discuss that option as well.

The first step is simply determining whether consignment is appropriate for the material you have.

We identify the pieces that may be suitable for consignment and discuss realistic selling expectations.
Prepare & List
Agreed items are photographed, described, organized, and presented to prospective buyers.
Sell & Settle
When an item sells, the applicable commission is deducted and the remaining proceeds are paid to you.

Professionally certified coins where grade, eye appeal, rarity, and market demand can justify retail marketing.
Complete Collections
Organized collections, albums, series, and selected inherited collections containing meaningful numismatic material.
Select Bullion
Recognizable and desirable bullion products may be considered when retail placement makes economic sense.
Currency
Select older, scarce, certified, error, and collectible U.S. paper money may be considered for consignment.

Inherited a Collection?
Don't rush to sell everything at once
An inherited collection can contain ordinary coins, bullion, better dates, sentimental material, and pieces that require additional research.
Keep albums, envelopes, boxes, certificates, receipts, and handwritten notes together until the collection has been reviewed. The way a collection was assembled can sometimes provide useful information.

What is coin consignment?
You retain ownership of the coins while NumisMaverick handles the agreed-upon selling and marketing process. When the coins sell, you receive the proceeds less the applicable commission and approved expenses.
Is consignment better than selling outright?
Not necessarily. Consignment may provide greater retail exposure, but it takes time. An outright sale provides faster payment and greater simplicity.
Do you accept entire collections?
Selected collections and estates may be considered. The collection will be reviewed first to determine whether consignment is appropriate.
How long does a consignment take?
There is no universal timeframe. Some coins may sell quickly while specialized material can require more time to reach the right buyer.
Do I need to clean my coins first?
No. Do not clean or polish coins before evaluation. Cleaning can permanently damage collectible surfaces.
Can you tell me what my coins are worth first?
An initial review can help identify the material and determine whether consignment is appropriate. Exact value may require closer examination or additional research.
Do you buy coins instead of consigning them?
Depending on the material, an outright purchase may be an appropriate alternative. The two options can be discussed during the evaluation.
Can I send photographs?
Yes. Clear photographs of the collection, holders, labels, and promising individual coins are a good way to begin the conversation.
