Your coin already has a grade. Will It CAC? focuses on a different question: does the coin appear strong enough within that assigned grade to justify a CAC submission?

CAC stickering is a secondary verification service for qualifying coins already certified by PCGS or NGC. A coin does not necessarily need to look like the next numeric grade to be a good candidate. What matters is whether its quality appears solid or better for the grade on the holder.

NumisMaverick evaluates the visible characteristics of the coin and gives you a structured pre-submission opinion before you decide whether to spend the money and effort submitting it.

This is screening, not certification. NumisMaverick does not issue CAC stickers and cannot guarantee CAC's decision.

A probability, not a promise.

Every eligible coin receives a CAC likelihood range and a practical recommendation. The percentage reflects our image-based opinion of the specific coin—not a guarantee of CAC's decision.

85–100% Strong Submit Appears clearly solid or premium for the assigned grade.
70–84% Submit Visible quality makes the coin a credible CAC candidate.
55–69% Marginal Potential candidate, but economics and in-hand quality matter.
35–54% Probably Pass Visible weaknesses make submission difficult to justify.
0–34% Pass Based on the supplied images, CAC approval appears unlikely.

How to photograph your coin.

CAC decisions depend on qualities that can be difficult to capture in a photograph. Good images give us the best chance of making a useful pre-screening assessment.

  • Photo 2: Full slab, reverse, straight-on.
  • Photo 3: Close-up of the coin's obverse.
  • Photo 4: Close-up of the coin's reverse.
  • Optional: Obverse under angled light.

  • Optional: Macro photo of any mark, spot, toning, or area of concern.
Avoid: heavy glare, screenshots of auction listings, blurry images, strong color filters, overexposure, and photographs where the plastic holder is in focus but the coin is not.

Before submitting

Make sure the coin is eligible for the CAC service you intend to use. NumisMaverick's screening does not replace CAC's current submission requirements, accepted-coin rules, or final review.

For best results, submit one coin at a time during the beta period. That makes it easier to evaluate the coin carefully and improve the Will It CAC? screening model.

Already know the outcome? If you are helping us test the model with a coin that has already been submitted to CAC, please do not tell us the outcome in the initial submission. We want the screening to be blind.

Will It CAC? is an independent numismatic pre-screening opinion based primarily on submitted images. It is not a grading, authentication, appraisal, investment, or CAC certification service. Results are estimates only and do not guarantee a green sticker, gold sticker, grade, value, or acceptance by CAC. CAC, PCGS, and NGC are independent third parties and are not affiliated with or endorsed by NumisMaverick. Software-assisted image analysis may be used as part of the review; the final screening opinion is provided by NumisMaverick.

What exactly is Will It CAC?

It is a pre-submission CAC screening service. We review photographs of a PCGS or NGC certified coin and provide an estimated CAC likelihood, quality-within-grade assessment, major strengths and concerns, and a submit-or-pass recommendation.

Does NumisMaverick guarantee the coin will CAC?

No. Only CAC can decide whether a submitted coin receives a green sticker, gold sticker, or no sticker. Our percentage is an informed screening opinion, not a guarantee.

Are you re-grading my coin?

Not in this MVP. The starting point is the grade already assigned by PCGS or NGC. We are evaluating whether the visible quality of the coin appears strong enough within that grade to make it an attractive CAC candidate.

Can I send a raw coin?

Not for Will It CAC? The MVP is intentionally narrow and is designed for eligible coins already encapsulated and graded by PCGS or NGC.

Can you predict a gold CAC sticker?

We may identify a coin as appearing unusually strong for its assigned grade, but gold-sticker outcomes are rare and particularly difficult to predict from photographs. Any gold-sticker estimate should be treated as highly speculative until validated through a larger testing dataset.

Why do you need angled-light photos?

Luster, fine hairlines, friction, and subtle surface characteristics can change dramatically as lighting changes. Angled-light photographs can reveal information that a single straight-on image may conceal.

Is NumisMaverick affiliated with CAC?

No. NumisMaverick is independent. CAC, PCGS, and NGC are third-party companies and do not sponsor or endorse the Will It CAC? screening service.

What happens during the beta?

We are testing the consistency and calibration of the screening process. When possible, known CAC outcomes can be compared against blind NumisMaverick predictions to determine where the system is useful and where it needs improvement.
