🌍 World Gold Hunter's Guide

World gold is often the best way to stack weight, but keep an eye out for these premium pieces:

🇲🇽 Mexican Gold

  • Centenario (50 Peso): The heavy hitter. Almost always trades at a premium.
  • Restrikes: Most 1947 50 Pesos and 1945 2 Pesos are modern restrikes (value = melt + small premium).
  • 20 Peso (Aztec Calendar): One of the most beautiful coins ever made. High demand.

🇬🇧 The Sovereign

  • Mint Marks: Check just above the date for tiny letters. 'S' is Sydney, 'C' is Ottawa, 'SA' is Pretoria.
  • Shield Backs: Older Victoria Sovereigns with a shield instead of St. George carry higher premiums.
  • Weight: Should be 7.98g total. If it's light, it's likely a jewelry counterfeit.

🇫🇷 LMU Gold (20 Francs)

  • The Rooster: French 20 Francs are the gold standard for "junk gold."
  • Lucky Angel: Legend says the designer was saved from the guillotine by having one in his pocket. Highly collectible!
  • Swiss Vreneli: The 1926 date is much scarcer than the common 1947/1949 restrikes.
